1:1 Foundation of Natural Dyes
In this private lesson, you will learn the foundation of natural dyeing and how to create permanent color on fabric using plants that are available to us locally. You will learn the chemistry behind what makes a plant a dye plant and the relationship between fiber, plant and mordant. We will go through the steps of pretreating your fabric and experiment with various mordant and fiber combinations to create multiple colors with one plant. We will also discuss ways to set up your home studio for optimal creative flow. This will give you a solid foundation that will leave you feeling well prepared for your own natural dye journey.
Location: Local Earth Studio (6 miles outside Bozeman)
Time and Duration: This is a 3 hour session. After your purchase I will email you to schedule a time.
Materials: All materials are included in the cost. You will leave with a detailed document including everything we covered in the session as well as various fabric swatches to start your dye journal.
