Natural Dye Workshop at Kithship

  • Kithship 112 East Lewis Street Livingston, MT, 59047 United States (map)

Join me at Kithship in Livingston for this in-depth 2-day workshop where you will learn all about natural dyeing and the chemistry behind creating permanent color on fabric using locally foraged and homegrown plants. This will cover everything from setting up your own studio to preparing your fabric for dye and how to create prints by directly applying various mordants using printing blocks and brushes. Working with the direct application of various mordants will give you a hands-on understanding of how different mordants react with different plants and how to achieve multiple colors from one plant. You will leave with your own creations on organic cotton fabric, plus fabric swatches of various fabric, plant, and mordant combinations to keep for your own records.

Please note this is a 2 day, in person workshop taking place on the 17th (10am-4pm) and 18th (12pm-3pm) of February, 2024.

The workshop will take place at Kithship’s brick and mortar in Livingston, MT.

All materials are included in price.
